Mayra Cañas's interests outside of her parents' religion began in middle school where she first discovered the Greek Gods. This was followed by an introduction to the runes in high school and her first encounter with Odin. She is a walker between the worlds, a healer, energy worker, and seer who has identified as Pagan for over 25 years. A devotional polytheist, Mayra is dedicated to both Hecate and the Morrigan. Her practice includes the Greek Irish and Norse pantheon as well as the Orishas of the Lukumi traditions. Aside from devotional work, facilitating connections and helping others tap into their own talents is the most rewarding aspect of her work.

Laura Lenhard: I was raised in Southern California and brought with me to Connecticut a lifelong fascination with the metaphysical world, along with a deep-rooted belief in the concept of Universal Spirituality. This respect for all spiritual paths and love for the natural world combined with my vision for a unique shop filled with all things mystical, magical and natural. My dream was realized when Talisman and Cauldron, located in Derby CT, opened in April of 2007. I now work to educate and share information regarding the metaphysical and spiritual realms through my day-to-day interactions with patrons at the shop, guest appearances, articles, Talisman’s monthly newsletter and Hearst Publications’ “Metaphysical Musings” blog (since 2009) as well as leading workshops and lectures.
